About Us \ Staff \ Jeff Ramsey :: Pastor
What is your Staff Role within Visio Dei?
Umm… making coffee in the mornings and catching mice around the building. Occasionally I take the trash out too… and I teach on Sundays… and try to figure out where God’s leading us as a community…
What is your favorite part of your job?
I like having a front row seat to see God at work in people’s lives, giving them direction and making sense of things. I love seeing people trust Him and I also love seeing people struggle with deep, difficult questions and issues and growing through the struggle. I enjoy asking questions and exploring answers. I get to read a lot and listen to some great teachers as I explore the Bible. I like getting to learn for a living.
I love my job. Really, it’s a dream to have the chance to do this, but somedays I wish I was a painter. Not art painting but house painting, because at the end of the day you can see what you’ve done and everything looks clean and new. It’s harder to see on a regular basis what you’ve accomplished in this job, and that’s frustrating. But when you get the sense God has used you to accomplish something, it’s really, really satisfying.
What is your family like?
My wife and I have been married for 9 years and we have 3 kids with another on the way. I love my family a whole lot. It’s crazy and going to get crazier, we’ve signed ourselves up for many years of craziness, but they are everything to me.
What is your favorite color?
I don’t have one but my son thinks it’s red because that’s the piece he gives me every time we play Candyland.
If you were a fruit… what kind of fruit would you be?
I have no idea, but after asking a few people, the consensus was a kiwi – kind of prickly on the outside and sweet and complex on the inside. I don’t know how I feel about that but I can’t argue with it at all.
What is your greatest fear?
Snakes. I really hate snakes. Even the ‘good’ snakes. The devil showed up as a snake in the Bible, that wasn’t a coincidence… they’re evil.
I think as a parent, your worst fears revolve around your kids and their future. I fear not preparing them well for their lives, whether that be physically, emotionally or spiritually.
Who is your favorite worship leader? ;)
Without a doubt… JASON GORE! (Was that the right answer?)
